Internet Tutorial is a clear, friendly guide to the internet for beginners in 2026. It explains how the internet works, how to get connected at home and on the move, how to set up good Wi-Fi, and how to stay safe online – in plain language, with simple drawings and step-by-step instructions.
What you will learn
• How the Internet Works – networks, clients and servers, the web and apps, IP addresses, domain names and DNS, and the journey of a web page from a server to your screen.
• Getting Connected – fibre, cable and DSL, 5G and 4G mobile data, fixed wireless and satellite (including low-orbit services); what Mbps, upload, latency and data limits mean; how to run a fair speed test and choose a plan.
• Wi-Fi and Home Networks – modem and router, Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7 and the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, where to put your router, mesh systems and extenders, changing the Wi-Fi name and password, guest networks and securing your router.
• Connecting Devices – phones and tablets, Windows, Mac and Chromebook computers, smart TVs, printers, mobile data, roaming and eSIM, and sharing your phone's connection as a hotspot.
• Using the Internet – browser basics, searching well, judging sources and AI answers in search, email, video calls, cloud storage and backup, and shopping and banking online safely.
• Staying Safe Online – strong passwords and password managers, passkeys, two-step verification, phishing and common scams (including AI voice cloning), public Wi-Fi, VPNs explained neutrally, software updates, privacy settings and children online.
• Wellbeing and Accessibility – screen time, notifications and healthy habits, plus built-in tools such as larger text, screen readers, live captions and voice control.
• Troubleshooting and Reference – step-by-step fixes for no internet, slow or weak Wi-Fi and devices that will not connect, a searchable glossary of internet terms, and answers to frequently asked questions.
